My name is Stu. I like plausible growth differences. I really love stories of people outgrowing others, whether they be real or even make believe. A good growth story, with lots of comparisons, reactions, measurements...it's thrilling for me to listen to. I've written some stories elsewhere, many of them dealing with plausible size differences and growth. I am 5'10"...or at least, I always thought I was. That is what my driver's license says. However I was astonished when I went to my physical a few months ago and they measured me at 5'9". I had them double check. It was rather deflating. Later at the bar I joked that I was measured shorter than I thought I was. I like self-deprecating behavior. The bartender who was 10 years younger than me smiled and came over to me. "Really, I'm 5'10"..." he announced as he stepped up to me. He just smirked at me. He's a good kid so he didn't announce out loud what he saw. He was clearly a bit taller than me. Oh well...I am still keeping 5'10" on my license. Denial is no just a river in Africa, right?

Welcome. Plausible size difference and growth is a good way to describe one of the things this place is all about.
Have you tried measuring yourself in the morning? Maybe you're 5'10" then.

Stu, I can relate :-) I'm 65, turning 66 in June...I reached my maximum height of 6ft 1.5" in my early 20's. At my recent annual physical, the nurse measured my height, flat footed, at 5'11" I was shocked that I had now shrunk below 6ft...which I thought was my actual height at 65. I've noticed too that at night, I'm 5ft 10.5"...I've heard that you shrink through the day, and also adults (men and women) over time from aging loose anywhere from 2-3" in height. I'm thinking I'll possibly loose another inch as I get into my 70's placing me at 5'10" in the morning, 5'9.5" in the evening :-)
